There are no words to describe how much this pisses me off.

Brother you don’t even have half a glass of chablis with your 24 ounce porterhouse and get behind the wheel of a car. Call a cab you air headed bastard.

If he does not resign he needs to be fired and I love Damon Evans and always have. But a mistake like this needs to be a career ender and I don’t care who you are. This is one hell of a lot dumber than dissing your boss while talking with a reporter from Rolling Stone magazine.

As most of you guys know, I am a Vols fan first, …and an SEC fan second.

…and it looks like its panning out to be a good day for the SEC.

The Gators, led by semi-retired, vacationing, LOA taking, lucky as hell Urban Meyer are first in the nation right now via grabbing 4 of the nation’s top 10 recruits.

As of 11:45 EST the top 5 stands as:

1. Florida

2. Texas

3. Alabama

4. USC

5. Auburn

…or course that is depending upon who you get your information from: Rivals, Scout, or ESPN.

I must admit, Lane Kiffin and Ed Orgeron have done a superb job recruiting since arriving back in Southern Cal…even stealing all-world receiver Markeith Ambles from us during the final hours.

Les Miles and Chavis also pulled off a coup by stealing J.C. Copeland to the Tigers. We could have really used that guy!

UT are not to be out done though, having stolen our own 5-star receiver away from UGA’s Mark Richt in Da’Rick Rogers. (sorry Buck) Rivals.com has him listed as the overall 8th best player in the nation…truth be told, Kiffin had already worked on him, but Dooley was the one that closed that deal.

Some are saying that UT already possesses the top group of wide receivers in the nation, …with Matt Milton already on campus as a mid-term enrollee.

We have already snagged Michael Palardy, considered the nations best kicking prospect by scout.com ….hopefully plugging a glaring hole for the Vols this coming season.

Sometimes tho’, its not about who signs the LOI on National Signing Day but who doesn’t.

I still predict, nay hope, that the Vols ultimately wind up with a top 10 class this year.

Update: as of 3:45 EST the Gators still seem to be on top of things. The article I have linked might proclaim something to the effect that us Vols “lost out” on losing Markeith Ambles…but truth be told, I am still holding on dearly to the fact that people are already claiming UT to have the best WR recruiting class in the nation.

That in itself is going to speak tons when new guys like QB Nick Stephens(yeah, he’s had a few snaps) or Tyler Bray (A 4 star QB recruit out of Kiffin’s own back yard) tries to get their feet wet in a new offense.

True, UT may have a year or two of growing pains, …but as long as the recruiting is there…and especially the development, …then “us” UT fans have a bright future indeed.

btw, Rivals.com has UT currently listed as the 8th top recruiting class in the nation. Let’s go Dooley!

Good grief!

At age 28 he is still ranked #1 in the world (237 consecutive weeks) with 16 Grand Slam titles!!!

Federer vs. Nadal…makes me kind of reminisce about the good ol’ days of Johnny Mac and Jimmy Connors. (check out the high dollar wooden rackets!)

Nadal is probably as good an athlete as I have ever seen, …he absolutely owns clay courts…but Federer caught up to him in 2007 besting him in the Hamburg Masters.

I loved watching Pete Sampras, at the time I considered him the “Greg Maddux” of tennis…but Federer is putting a stamp on the sport that may never again be equaled.

Tennis is a young man’s game, even Roger suggests that the prime years are 22 to 25 years old, as opposed to a less strenuous sport, baseball, where the prime years are generally considered to be between 27 and 30 years old.

Roger is 28, just won another major, …and is still ranked #1 on the globe.

Tiger? Jordan? Manning? Phelps? James? Pujols?

Who dominates their own sport in today’s game more than Federer?

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know it is Tuesday and ya’ll kicked our asses on Saturday and that this is a little bit late but folks it has been a hard pill to swallow.

Not the fact that you beat us. It is the humiliating way we were beaten.

I was not surprised by the loss. Up until game time I was loud and insistent that if Crompton played well we would lose. Tennessee does not have a bad football team and up until Saturday Crompton was the only real weak link in the chain.

But I had seen our defensive secondary play before. I had seen on countless occasions receivers running in spaces so wide open that a Georgia defender could not be spotted in a wide angle shot on a 50″ television screen.

I had already seen an offensive line so inept that it defies explanation. When five different running backs cannot find holes to run through it means that there are no holes to run through.

I had already seen special teams play so horrid that it would bring tears to your eyes. I have seen one of the best place kickers in the SEC reduced to almost nothing by coaches who insist on directional kicking and then blame the kicker when the coverage sucks.

In short I have seen the complete and total collapse of the Bulldog nation. For the first time in my life I have seen football players at the University of Georgia actually go out on the field and have no idea what their assignments and responsibilites were and when they were lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time still not be able to execute.

It is depressing. It is discouraging. It is the agony of defeat. But congratulations Volunteers and a special congratulations to Jonathan Crompton. He put it to our ass.

The best blog post I have seen concerning the game. I love Hey Jenny Slater.

See ya’ll next year in Athens.

I hope jadarm will forgive me for this post… It’s just that I have a thing about trying to remember to check predictions… What good are predictions that nobody ever checks? I don’t think jadarm did badly… and he offered plenty of qualifications for that 92 wins for the Braves quasi-prediction. He told me in private conversation that he would be tickled if the Braves got within 6 games of that – and they did!

Anyway, if I can get table formats to work on this thing, here’s the best summary I can give on jadarm’s predictions versus the end-of-the-season-minus-a-tie-breaker-or-two reality:

I know you guys are sick of Crompton but if he can hang on to the starting job until Tennessee plays Georgia he will have a chance at setting a new Tennessee passing record for yards in a game.

The Georgia defense is Grade AAA suck.

I asked my brother before the game if he thought Arkansas would pass for 500 yards on us. He got all pissed off and said no.

I think they wound up with 408 passing yards so he was correct. But if the Arkansas quarterback had not missed some wide open receivers and his guys had not dropped a few very catchable passes then they would have gotten the 500 yards plus a few more.

I have never seen a more clueless defense in my life. There were times when the secondary actually looked like they had no idea what to do or where they should be. There were times when the receivers literally had no defenders within 10 yards of them.

I sure hope the offense can continue to put 50+ points on the board because there are upcoming games where 50+ is not going to be enough.

Well, I guess it would be debatable whether or not this is the shittiest call ever made by an NFL official because they have made some doozies but it has to rank right up there with the worst of them.

Judge for yourselves

What kills me is that the league is still defending this call.

Thankfully I am not really into the NFL. And calls like that are what drove me away from the game. There comes a time when you wonder if you are watching professional football or professional wrestling.

I was watching that game live and I was stunned that this particular call was not even replayed at the half. Nobody acted as if it had had any bearing on the game. It was as if it had never happened.

It is a shame when you have to have instant replay in order to overturn a correct call.

What a helluva QB we’ve got!

I mean, he hit every reciever he threw to…its just Lane Kiffin’s fault that Crompton didnt know to hit the Orange instead of the White.

I might have to double check but I think Crompton threw for more UCLA yardage than their own freshman QB.

Forget about being ranked! This was a “must win” …a freshman UCLA QB coming into Neyland??

Some ESPN radio guy “naysayer” gave the Vols a 14 pt spread just because of that fact…and I am not going to be as stupid as saying that he jinxed us! Hell no he didnt jinx us, …our QB just sucks boiled egg farts…thats all!

Gimme a break!

Jonathan “cried” about getting so called “death threats” last year…I’ll bet dollars to peso’s that those threats didnt come from southern Cal!

What a #$%^& idiot!

Everyone on board the Lane Train for the SEC Championship?
