My neighbors in Knoxville

I was in the woods camping, swimming and fishing all weekend, and so did not learn of the tragedy at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Knoxville, TN until this morning when I arrived at work. This isn’t to discuss the incident, only to acknowledge it because these were my close neighbors. knoxnews.com has set up a guest book for sharing condolences to those affected.

Dear Smijer:

My deepest condolences to your friends at the UU Knoxville church. I wish a speedy recovery for those who were harmed by this terrorist. I am numb from this whole ordeal.

TVUU is a vibrant, great UU Church. The kids like it so much. I am sick beyond belief that this could happen.

Peace and blessings to you,
Sandy

Thought of you as soon as I heard the news about it being a unitarian church. Terrible tragedy. Horrible. Anti-Christian *and* anti-liberal? In the south? Not ‘rare’, but definitely strange.

May their souls RIP.
