Almost 90% of colored men have been in some form of the corrections department during their lives. That being said, it is no wonder that the majority of the people being put to death are colored. Heck, I fear walking in primarily ethnic neighborhoods- with statistics like that, who wouldn't? I also say keep the death penalty. I would not have wanted his job for any amount of money in the world. I was shocked to learn that the state of Texas still uses a drug for lethal injection that has been banned by veterinarians for use on animals because it is considered too cruel and painful. There is no doubt in my mind that the death penalty should be banned. It solves nothing. It deters nothing. When the guards and the warden are sick and throwing up because of the duty they are about to perform that tells me that there is something terribly wrong with the duty they are about to perform. Maybe someday our society will decide to ban the practice. I hope so. That preacher makes me glad that I have the job I have. I would not have wanted his job for any amount of money in the world.
