Smoltz and Jones “fish” for a win!

“I have never seen Chipper start a season the way that he’s starting. He’s certainly carrying us. We really could have nine or 10 wins. But without him, we might not have six. He’s carrying us and he’s hot. You know everybody else around him will get hot. And you know when that happens, we’ll be a very, very difficult team to pitch to.” - John Smoltz

John Smoltz - 3 Wins / 0 Losses - 21 SO’s in 16 IP / ERA 0.56 (10 K’s in 5 innings tonight)

Chipper Jones - AVG .443 (vs. Left: .444 vs. Right: .441) - 3 HR - 8 RBI (4 for 4 / 2 HR’s tonight)

It was a great game, hopefully one that will spawn the first “hot-streak” of the season for the Bravos.

Kind of ironic that Bobby Cox called a rare “team meeting” before the game to discuss things.

UPDATE: Chipper came into last nights game against the Dodgers batting a league leading .443…well, all he did last night was smack 2 more HR’s and went 3 for 5 …actually raising his batting average.

Bennett also made a strong showing throwing 4 and 2/3 scoreless innings (missing the W by 1/3 IP).
