Iraq: Six months at a time
Just saw this over at Balloon-Juice.
Stunning. Haunting. Devastating.

I didn’t see anything emotional about the ad. That is what I liked best about it.
It seemed to me to be factual and went directly to the point.
Why raise a white flag? Just declare victory and redeploy. If there is no definition of victory then there is no definition of defeat.
Mac shouldn’t have to live down his comment. He believes that. He should be able to state that without apology.
But that is the one and the primary reason I could never vote for the guy. I can not vote for 4 more years of what we have just had 8 of.
In all probability I will have to live through a third and maybe a fourth Bush term but I sure don’t have to vote for it.
I know our sons’ and daughters’ can come home…but what is the alternative over there…with their sons’ and daughters’?
And what is it worth to us to delay that result for another 4, 8, 10, 50, or 100 years?
We have 70,000 troops in Germany.
Maybe someone didn’t tell the command center that WWII was over? Or, better yet, maybe Obama can call for the immediate return of all 70,000 right now? Along with the 47,000 that are currently in Japan. And 37,000 in South Korea.
Who do we blame for these 60 and 40 year tragic decisions? And why in the world are our troops there, anyway?
Yep, rhetorical questions. I know the answers. ![]()
Man, I can appreciate your emotions here…and that was what that video was…it’s sole purpose was to propagate an emotional response.
Mac will not ever live down his “100″ year statement…but, what is the alternative (?)…I know our sons’ and daughters’ can come home…but what is the alternative over there…with their sons’ and daughters’?
Raising a “white flag” encourages the enemy…it doesnt induce benevolence.
…and “no”…my son isnt over there.
I never agreed with the decision to go to Iraq…but the problem is…we are already there.
