Wiihab

Ripped straight off the scienceblogs newsfeed (If you haven’t noticed, this page has an aggregator there in the right-hand column, below the blog-roll. It’s a handy thing for me, since I would never run a desktop based aggregator).

I’m waiting for the day that the term ‘Wiihab’ stops referring to therapy for stroke victims and becomes the thing my wife forces me to go to on pain of divorce. And, no - getting Tiger Woods golf is just going to make it worse.

Wii is one of the many things that I have yet to experience. My kids and my brother love it. One of these days I am going to give it a try.

Wii is awesome, you definately need to try it. It can become dangerous though. Spilled food, drinks, broken tables, noses…

I’d be interested to see what the results are of the study, if one is conducted. It wouldn’t surprise me if there were improved mobility. I’d already made plans to have my 77 year old grandmother come over to play Wii a few days a week. She loves the bowling and tennis - two sports she used to play for decades, but has a harder time doing now given her age and several hand injuries.

My wife has been telling me about some of the nursing homes around town are using them. (Haven’t you honey). whether or not they have medical benefits, the patients seem to enjoy them immensely.
