Links with your Eye Boogers
Haven’t done one of these in a while.
Sit back, clear your eye boogers, and check some links:
Lawsuits over global warming on the horizon: There are already people dying from heat waves worldwide; already populations on island atolls are losing ground to encroaching ocean; already, the percentage of high strength hurricanes has increased… at least some of this is very likely attributable to anthropogenic climate change. Unless we change course quickly, there is a lot worse to come, and I can think of no reason that those responsible for it shouldn’t be held liable in court - at least where the negligence that is leading us there is gross.
A loss on the family values front (we don’t value those families!)… but the fight continues, and eventually will be won.
I’ve been consciously avoiding the Senate race in Connecticut, but it’s apparently heating up. I’m no Lieberman fan - not by any stretch. And it would be nice to have a Senator (D) from CT that was not a neocon. But, really, may the best man win. Lieberman’s no worse than, say Snowe.
I do care about TN, and the folks of Red State have an opinion, too: They ask Van Hilleary to bow out because they want to be sure that the Republican ticket is at least seven shades of radical rightist. Personally, I hope Van Hilleary stays in, splits the rabid vote with Ed Bryant, and that Bob Corker takes the nomination. I’ll still vote for the Democrat, especially in light of Corker’s odious position on stem cells, and bad position on the war… but overall, Corker is a shade less hard-core than the other two. His position on Global Warming, for instance, is (and I paraphrase), “regardless of whether it’s real or not, we would be well served to invest in clean energy.” Better than the other two, who were fighting to be first in line to get the Party Blindfold on that issue. And he was a fine mayor. I’ll vote for Ford, even with his bad position on gay marriage (but, he voted against banning gay adoption)… At least he’s not going to help start a stupid war.
