Memory Hole
Tortured an innocent cab driver to death? Best just to forget about it.

Well, they are talking about it now. Whether it works or not, I have a personal intuition that in some cases it does and in some cases it doesnt, …thats not really how we as a nation want to portray ourselves…is it?
I mean, the next time one of our guys gets captured by the enemy…how can we legitimately insist on the humane treatment and possible release of them? How do you dictate principle to the world without leading by example?
Do you suppose writing to Discovery would help for this to be shown on air? What could I do?
h, I would certainly encourage anyone who is concerned to do just that. In fact, since you mentioned it, I will do so myself. Do you think the UUSC’s STOP campaign would care to put pressure on them, or help get the word out?

Depends on the enemy.
If a state sponsored enemy, we have the Geneva Conventions guiding us and other nations.
If the enemy is radical Islamists (our current enemy, btw) they couldn’t care less - and laugh at the notion - of humane treatment and/or release of prisoners.
They strapped bombs onto retarded women last month and blew them up while in public places.
But, hey, we waterboarded three guys…….I’m outraged.
As long as there is someone, somewhere, doing something more hideous, then we have no moral obligation to abstain from the merely grotesque.
Check out the gem I found in the comments: “Remember, it’s not a sin if you don’t let anyone talk about it.”
