Godamighty it seems like we have been droning on and on and on about that for years now. At least I know now what a caucus is and why people do it. I heard Matt Taibbi say that for the first time ever Iowa and New Hampshire may not mean a damn thing this time around. I still can't understand why they ever have. I still haven't made up my mind yet so I had him on my "watch" list for a while but to date, he's only dropped in my estimation. The 'best' thing he's got going for him is that he has a pleasant demeanor and seems to be an affable fellow who can get along with everyone. Well, we see how far that's helped Bush (who is also a big government Republican who still can't spend enough to get Democrats on board, so I speak for my fellow GOPers when I say "been there, done that"). So, while pretty much all of the top tier candidates on each side could certainly BE president, I currently have Huck on my "don't want him to be" list. alice, Thompson is a conservative. Tho, I'm sure the conservative wing would be apt to rally around a presumptive nominee much like the liberal base rallied around the pro-war tandem of Kerry/Edwards 4 years ago or now ponders the prospect of a hawk like Hillary winning the nom while watching Obama's speech begin to scurry as far away from the left as it can while leading up to the votes. We all settle in some ways because there's no such thing as a candidate whose every plank is agreed to by the party faithful.
