Yeah - Graham should have asked him if waterboarding Oprah Winfrey was a violation of Geneva. Then it would have been an easy yes.

And I must admit that I have wondered why, if waterboarding is not torture, did the CIA destroy the tapes?
You never, no matter which party is in power (and it’s a darn shame that I am forced to point that out in today’s atmosphere), let the enemy know what they could prepare for should they be captured.
If someone did something wrong, we’ll eventually weed it out & correct things. Otherwise, Al Qaeda doesn’t need to see how an American interrogation works.
And neither do I.

Did Kit Bond really say that waterboarding is like swimming? If that is the case could we not extract information by giving the enemy swimming lessons?

I can pretty much figure out how American interrogation works. I wouldn’t guess it to be much different than everybody else’s interrogation methods.
Personally if given a choice I think I would rather have somebody hit me on the bottom of my feet with a cane than wrap my head in saran wrap and pour water over my face until I lose consciousness.
But I guess if you find yourself in that situation you don’t get a choice.
This can get confusing.
I thought that as long as you were the member of a state sponsored military then the Geneva Convention applied.
If you are a private citizen then waterboard away folks.
Is that not how it works?
I’m still old fashioned. Waterboarding in my opinion is torture and I don’t care who is doing it to who or why.
And I must admit that I have wondered why, if waterboarding is not torture, did the CIA destroy the tapes? Seems like it would be okay to put it on youtube if it is just a kind of frat boy hazing.
