Imus is back!
The day I have long awaited broke bright and beautiful this morning. Don Imus on the RFD channel! It was glorious.
He said they had signed a five year deal because “it will take five years to get even with everybody!”
Imus said, “Dick Cheney is still a war criminal and Hillary is Satan. Some things never change.” The soothing warmth of blasphemy washed over me like a flood.
The peerless Levon Helm was on the show. It was wonderful to see Charles McCord and Bernard McQuirk even though McQuirk was too quiet for my taste. Bernard is probably the funniest guy I have ever heard on the radio. Quick witted and politically incorrect. The two main ingredients for my favorite kind of humor.
Karith Foster and Tony Powell are going to be great additions. Powell made a few comments about the ridiculous BCS and the fact that the Miami Dolphins have not yet received a BCS bowl bid.
They briefly discussed the ridiculous Mohammed the Teddy Bear incident in the Sudan with one guy suggesting that maybe they should call the bear “Gitmo”.
And the commercials on the RFD channel are as funny as the show.
There were some expected glitches and techincal problems but I am sure they will be ironed out very soon and even if they are never ironed out I know where my TV wil be set to come on at 6:00 AM. Just knowing that MSNBC and FOX are not getting my viewing business is good enough for me.
My wife pisses and moans a little bit about Imus because she prefers one of those Good Morning America things that ABC, CBS and NBC and everybody else has going on. You know. The shows that have long segments warning me not to let my children eat the toys out of the toy box. I have had enough of that crap to last a lifetime in the last 8 months.
And anyway. I have 5 televisions at my house. Surely Imus can be welcomed on one of them.
Finally. It is wonderful to wake up again in the morning!
Wow, the new & neutered version is, well, kinda boring. Have watched every morning while prepping for work & have heard hardly anything from Bernie or Rob Bartlett.
I’ve tried to find the humor but the new folks are simply NOT funny (we know why they were really hired, don’t we?). The guy had one good line (about the Dolphins & the BCS) but the chick is about as funny as Margaret Cho.
Tried again today & once Craig Crawford appeared this morning I immediately turned my DTV to channel 849 & enjoyed Christmas music as Crawford is, IMO, woefully boring.
Cripes, when they fix the tech glitches I wished that they’d bring back the ‘edge’ to the show.
