Big Day In Knoxville Tomorrow

Well, it is Friday once again and as always during the football season I spend Friday looking forward to Saturday. And tomorrow is one of the Saturday’s I always look forward to the most.

The Vols.

Big Orange Michael is talkin’ some smack and now is the time to do it.

I lived in Georgia for a bit of time earlier this decade…and let me just say there is no bigger group of impossible to please fans than UGA ones. They can’t handle winning and they sure as hell can’t handle losing. Since they’re going to be bitter either way, I say the Vols give them reason to be bitter by winning this game, handily. Show them last year’s hanging half-a-hundred on them was no fluke.

Oh believe me. The half a hundred ya’ll hung on us last year has not been forgotten and will never be forgotten. In the locker rooms in Athens it is all that has been talked about this week. We have a score to settle and we are coming to your house to settle it.

I’ll be surrounded by Orange tomorrow. Sittin’ in Papaw’s living room with Tennessee pillows and Tennessee paraphanalia everywhere I look. One lone Dawg fan sitting proudly amongst the enemy.

I’ll be wearing my hobnail boots.

And I hope to see them all cryin’ in their Tennessee pillows before the day is done.

having seen my vols performance so far this year, I fear your dawgs. I still hope we beat you.

Hell, I would fear the local High School team even if we were playing them in Neyland Stadium, and our local High School is about as big as your average Family Dollar store…..but I still gotta root for my Vols. Nobody likes a bandwagon fan, gotta take the good w/ the bad. I know that from becoming a Braves/baseball fan back in 1980 (phew!),,,

Ainge did it to em’ a few years ago though, anything can happen, paper is paper, thats why they play the games.

Go Vols!

Completely off topic: smijer, I sent you an e-mail w/my info, don’t know if you got it (I used the account you entered when commenting on my site) but no matter, we’ll eventually get together for that brew somewhere down the road. I got from nearby the TN aquarium to my driveway in 65 minutes after the concert ended, so there’s no darn excuse for us to miss an opportunity to throw down a few together.

It’ll happen, buddy.

Cripes, my ears are still ringing from last night. :)

Paper certainly didn’t mean shit this time around. I knew when both Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit picked Georgia to win we were screwed but it was too late to backtrack.

Ya’ll kicked our ass but at least the game was over by the end of the first quarter.

No mystery. No nai-biting. No anxiety. Just the quite and early realization that what we were about to experience was a vasectomy without any pre-op ball shaving or pain killer.

I’m damn glad it is over and I am damn glad that Stanford beat Southern Cal.

Sorry about your Dawgs. You may have to wait for another year to send us crying in our pillows. As a side note, I’m glad LSU beat Florida.

Yup, and LSU didnt even lead the game untl 1 minute and 9 seconds was left in the 4th quarter, not the same team that showed up to play VA Tech a few weeks ago, but they won nonetheless. Good football weekend.

…and I dont care that the Falcons lost either, just another stop closer to a good draft pick…one that we will probably screw up anyway.
