To Protect and Serve
The other night at Walmart I saw a kid with a shirt that said on the front “I am a skateboarder” and on the back it read “go ahead and arrest me.”
I know skateboarders catch a lot of hell from the police. I have seen it first hand. I never have really understood it. I have a nephew who loves to skateboard and he is one of the kindest and most gentle spirits you would ever want to meet.
But you have to admit this is a little bit ridiculous.
My favorite cop comment is, “You see this blood on my knee? That’s BATTERY!”
It is sad to watch 14 year old kids trying to talk sense to a grown man in shorts.

A friend of mine whose father is on some city committees told me that the issue is one of property. Skateboards supposedly can cause a lot of damage to benches, walls, etc.
I don’t know if this is true, but that’s just one perspective.
