A Younger Demographic

The SO sent this to me yesterday. Since I’m still not up to the work involved in the post I want to do about various moral theories, I’ll just embed a link to this and go to work:

Is that young’un saying “this is the good baby part”?

It has been a long, long time since I had to interpret that kind of speech.

But not a day goes by that I don’t remember it and miss it terribly.

Shit. As soon as I asked the question I watched it again and realized what was being said.

I still think it is the “good baby part”

That’s funny. When I originally watched, I first saw the caption saying “this is the colbert report.” I heard “this is the colbert report”, pretty clearly. Then I read your comments and listened again, without looking at the “right” caption. I then heard “this is the good baby part.”

Funny, isn’t it, how our brains interpret random or ambiguous sounds and images, where possible, as human speech or images of human icons.

I think that’s called pareidolia.

From the way the baby is holding a pen, I think he was at least coached to introductuce the television show. But, he could have been saying either or neither.

I thought the first time around that it was a skit from “The Colbert Report”. I didn’t put the two together. Believe it or not I have never seen The Colbert Report. I have seen snippets from it but I have never sat down and watched a show from beginning to end.

But the pen should have been a dead giveaway.
