Moyers

…but they couldn’t have done it on their own. They needed a compliant press to pass on their propaganda as news and cheer them on.

That’s from Chapter 1 of the internet broadcast, and a real gem. I’ve only watched part, and so far much more impressed with Chapter 2 than anything besides that quote from Chapter 1. You can watch it here.

The problem with the press is that there is little financial motivation for being responsible, careful, and right. There is plenty to be sensational, yellow, and compliant.

Only a more discerning public can correct that.

Sean Hannity is less a propagandist for the right than Bill Moyers is for the left. And I don’t mean that as a compliment to Hannity. Imagine, if you will, a documentary put out by Hannity. Really, try to imagine it.

That’s how believable I welcome any documentary by Moyers, especially when one of his interviewees is the guy who put forth fake documents in order to attempt to derail a presidential campaign.

I don’t like the “let’s smear this guy so no one will believe them” mentality that is so prevalent today & Moyers is one of the leading proponents. O’Reilly basically put the kabosh to Moyer’s cred the last two nights & did so in a way that the facts speak for themselves (and I know that BO isn’t unbiased). I remember Moyers getting caught lying a few years back about one of the Reagan officials…Moyers falsified a quote 180 degrees from what the guy said (I think it may have been Michael Deaver, but I’m not sure). He got nailed. He issued a correction when called on it, but for him to make up a quote out of thin air that coincidentally mirrored his preferred outcome of a ’story’ tells me that I should take his word with a grain of salt.

Not that I’d ever defend the media, mind you, and I’m not in this instance. But, when you guys say “Bill Moyers” it’s the same as us saying “Sean Hannity”, no matter how many awards his like-minded ilk give him (remember, the Dixie Chicks got the grammy for best country album while Carrie Underwood is the actual person with the best country album of the year & everyone knows it…..she just didn’t present herself in a political manner, thus she lost the award).

Maybe if they took a look at their dwindling ratings/subscriptions, they’d present news instead of manufactured news or talking points for their buddies.

You need to watch the documentary Ricky. I still listen to Sean Hannity. Nobody is wrong all of the time.

The administration worked the press masterfully. Really, it is something to watch and admire. The way it was done gives a very clear understanding of how these things work.

They played the media like a pipe organ. And that could explain why the media has turned on them the way it has.

If Hannity ever does a documentary I promise I will watch it.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I avoid those I disagree with. It’s just that I haven’t seen Hannity intentionally put forth false statements or intentionally take people out of context in order to score political points. The reason I made the comparison was to let you know that even though the MSM elite seems to accept Moyers as some sort of serious journalist - which is something that is an anomaly to anyone who has ever seen even one episode of his NOW program, which was little more than a pulpit for his political pontifications - he’s not. He’s simply a lib-dem. Which is fine, but he’s as much a journalist as Keith Olbermann.

Bill O took him apart last night by showing how he took BO’s word out of context, as BO showed extended video of his commentary. Moyers carefully edited the film in order to make a political point (known as “Dowdifying” quotes when done on the internet, since MoDo is keen on doing that). Dunno about the rest, but BO filleted him pretty good about the videos from FNC.

I still listen to Moyers or watch some of his stuff because - as you know - I go out of my way to ensure that I get a broad variety of opinion. But, a “documentary” by Moyers is on a par with a “documentary” by Michael Moore: the ending and the template is written before the filming begins.

One word: propaganda

I’m not a fan of propaganda, whether it’s “The Clinton Chronicles” or something Moyers puts out. I recall the press grilling the admin throughout and Bill Moyers cherry-picking quotes won’t change that. Let me put it this way: how would a Markos’ edited documentary differ from Moyers’ documentary?

’nuff said.

FYI, apparently I’m not the only one who noticed how much he tore apart Moyers’ thesis (as it pertained to him). That one’s from a BO hater, too.

One word: propaganda

Amen brother. And the current administration makes Moyers look like a first year rookie when it comes to propaganda. Hell, they even sucked Oprah into the maelstrom. I know that it is hard not to get caught up in all of the chest beating and spear shaking when your country has been attacked.

But when you can keep your head when everybody around you is losing theirs you will be a man my son.
