Ramble With Your Eye Boogers

Kryptonite occurs naturally.

I’ve been whistling an unusual earbug the last few days. “Me, the Peaceful Heart” - apparently recorded by one LuLu, but I’ve never heard her sing it. It has been years since I have heard the only version I know, one found on a vinyl record my daddy owned. The only internet mention of it is a single old e-bay auction. It’s a great tune for whistling, humming, or listening to in your head.

Small consolation, this. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a blog post about migraines. My guess is that if you know anything about them, the subject is too tender for discussion. I’ve been fortunate in that I’ve grown out of mine. Others in my family have been far less fortunate, though some of the newer meds have been a good help, after decades of suffering.

Why is it always the retired generals? My guess is that the military code of conduct - both the official and unofficial - makes it difficult for active duty troops to do much meta-discussion about their mission - at least much that is critical of policy, leaving their voice unheard, or filtered through the DOD or its higher-ups.

I need to post more doggie pictures, I think.

The kid is going to work with me today. That will be interesting.

So, when is Barnes & Nobles going to let me know that my reserved copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is ready, anyway? How long can one wait?

Have you ever had a tune going over and over inside your head and it be a tune you have never heard before? It just kinda comes out of nowhere.

And sometimes I wake up in the night hearing music from a choir. Not words. Not words that I understand anyway. Just a kind of lilting glossolalia. Sometimes there is music that accompanies it. It is not loud. In fact it is so faint as to be barely audible.

There was a time when it concerned me but I have learned to live with it. I am sure there is a scientific explanation for it. I long ago stopped asking my wife if she could hear it. Now I just sit back and enjoy it by myself.

Sounds like these, maybe (the nighttime version, anyway).. I get crowds of people muttering to each other.

While you are waiting on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows get yourself a copy of “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy. It will only take you a few hours to read it and it is worth the time.
