Cold?
I am used to winter days that hover in the 60 degree range. Sure it drops to at or a tad below freezing during the nights but for the most part winter here is not all of that uncomfortable to me.
So for the past couple of days I have learned new respect for folks who put up with bitter cold weather for months on end. How do they do that? To get up every morning and start a car that does not want to start has to be misery. Or are Yankee cars actually easier to start in sub 20 degree weather than Rebel cars are? I know my poor truck literally begs me to leave it alone in the cold, early morning hours.
I can remember winter’s that were much worse than the ones we have experienced here in recent years. Thirty years ago we would even get snow from time to time. I can remember a 12 inch snow once. Usually 3 to 4 inches is more common and a one inch snow can empty the stores of milk and bread and close schools for days. Hell, they have closed schools here one day this winter already and that was because of a slow, cold rain.
But when it comes to cold, miserable winter weather Alice puts it all into perspective today.
So tomorrow, when as I turn the ignition key my truck starts saying, “Please don’t try to start me. Please don’t try to start me. Leave me aloooooone! Leave me aloooone!” I will just mention the blizzard of ‘77.
But I am sure my truck won’t appreciate the story. That blizzard happened 17 years before she was born.

Which comedian said that?
Please don’t try to start me. Please don’t try to start me. Leave me aloooooone! Leave me aloooone!
