A Little Bit of None Of My Business

Mostly none of my business. My tax dollars have played a role in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, so I guess I bear a smidgeon of responsibility. But really, it’s the business of people who live thousands of miles from me. Nevertheless, I’m interested in hearing ideas about it, and this one was presented in the adult religious education forum at church past Sunday. I don’t have enough specialized knowledge to critique the ideas presented. I don’t know exactly at which points these ideas diverge from the standard two-state model proposed as part of the “road map for peace”. But, it seemed interesting. It seemed like a pretty good set of propositions. The key concept is getting both Palestinians and Israelis to be heavily invested in making it work. To the extent that the proposals accomplish that, maybe they can work. The article is at Tikkun.org magazine (a Jewish lady mentioned that Tikkun meant “repairing” – and that Tikkun with another word referred to the Jewish religion as “repairing the world”). A 54 page presentation that was given at Princeton is here in pdf form.

Interesting stuff, I think.
