Careless

I just had an epiphany. Suddenly, I care less about local, state, national, and international politics than I have since before the 2000 election. Lot’s of reasons why, but I don’t even care enough to explain them all!.

I don’t know what that does to smijer’s part of Tête-à-Tête-Tête… I’m still interested in religion and science, but I’m too dumb about them to say much… Without strongly held political convictions to spout off incessantly about… without caring enough to attack or defend when someone is being stupid/hateful or unfairly attacked… Not sure how I’ll come up with any words.

But, anyway… it feels good.

I just had an epiphany. Suddenly, I care less about local, state, national, and international politics than I have since before the 2000 election. Lot’s of reasons why, but I don’t even care enough to explain them all!.

Dwindling polls, seeing your hopes for fruitful accomplishments dashing away faster than Michael Phelps in a pool, hearing spin coming from the people who are supposed to be ‘your side’……yeah, know how that puts a bee in one’s bonnet all too well.

There’s more to life than politics. Which is why everyone else on the left is focusing on demonizing the boogey-men on the right instead of talking politics. :)

Too late for me as I have already been demonized myself by my righteous Republican friends. Now I must continue to carry on the devil’s liberal work for the Democrats.

  • Gee Dan.. I always wondered how you got demonized. Go on, then & fight the good evil fight.

  • I feel your pain. It’s not that I don’t care. It’s just that I got what I wanted and now I’m thinking, “wait, this is what I wanted??!? There’s no satisfaction for the progressive in America. The best the Democrats can muster is a slightly-left-of-center and I’ll never be satisfied with that. But beyond that, I’m burned out. I’ve been expending energy and emotion on this stuff since… well, going back 10 years, anyway. I’m exhausted.

If the Democrats can push through some meaningful health care reform, with a public option, then I’ll likely reengage. But short of that, I’m probably checking out and moving back to the fringe for the duration.

In the meantime, I don’t have a lot to say. I’m trying to catch up on all the things I’ve been neglecting for the past 10 years, and once I knock some stuff off the to-do list, I’m hoping to post some photos and food porn. Maybe that will be enough to keep the blog going…

  • Believe me I know the feeling and I am hearing from more and more and more folks who feel the same way. Just tired of it all. I won’t even let the television channel settle on a news or political show for more than a couple of seconds. I can’t stand to hear any of the voices anymore.

It seems that just like the religion of none is growing so is the politics of none.

I guess time will tell whether or not this is a good or bad thing. But even then whether it is a good or bad thing will depend on your personal perspective.

At least I have football until January.
