Cap & Fade…

Tim F:

…if Republicans put up an ugly fight over an essentially cosmetic trifle of a bill that leaves everyone exhausted and disinclined revisit the climate issue.

I’m pretty sure this has never come up in any GOP or Exxon strategy sessions.

  • Yeah, yeah… in 1997 the Senate votes unanamously- 95/0- to prevent President Clinton from ratifying Kyoto, and it’s all the GOP and Exxon’s fault. Byrd of West Virginia is leading opposition to cap and trade in the Senate, but it’s all the GOP and Exxon’s fault. The Democratic party has the presidency, a filibuster-proof majority of both houses, 2/3 of the governors and state legistures, 3/4 of the big city mayorships, but we’re all still scared of the GOP. When the last Republican dies, will the DNC pay to revive them to have someone to blame their inept leadership on?

    Great Idea Joel!

Of course we should probably start with the masters instead of the lackeys. Officers and boards of directors first, then on to repugnicrats.
when do you want to get started ?
I got a couple of boxes of shells. Anyone want to pitch in some ammo ?

  • I’m not going to get too caught up in 1997. That was flippin’ 12 years ago. I would have probably voted against Kyoto, then… I had the excuse of not knowing better.

But I do share your frustration about today. It seems like Democrats are ready to flee before the bogeyman even goes “boo”. I’ve given up the notion that they are going to do anything about the problems this country faces. I’m just grateful on the rare occasion that they aren’t engineering the problems themselves.

Not scared. If something doesn’t go right, blame the GOP. In the case cited here, the worst scenario is because of the Republicans.

Everything is the fault of conservatives or the GOP.

That’s why we need MSNBC to be a watchdog over those with no power to do anything: in order to appease the sensibilities of those who hate conservatives/Republicans.

If Obama fails, it’ll be because of the GOP. If anything fails, it’ll be because of the GOP. In the absence of proof, just insert ridicule.

Yeah, it’s not like Al Gore was in power back then. :)
