Spiders

Buck won the science hunt from Friday. The web on top was from a spider not dosed with caffeine. The web on bottom was the spider who had already had his coffee. Somewhat the other way around for people, I’d say. Caffeine is a natural substance made by plants to defend against insects. While spiders are not insects, they are arthropods, so their neurological functions are impaired in similar ways. The primary instrument of caffeine’s effect on the human brain is to bind to the adenosine receptors without activating them, though it’s not entirely understood why this helps us wake up and focus. But I’m going to go try some out right now.

  • You made that one easy. I just googled “Spider Webs” and stumbled across the pictures you posted with an explanation.

Caffeine really doesn’t do it for me. And I know a few other folks (my mother for one) who can drink coffee and still sleep like a baby. Maybe I get it from her.

My wife says caffeine makes her boobs sore. But in all honesty they seem to always be sore.
