Nice Quote; Neat book

Just added this one to the list of random quotes that appears in the banner up top (does anyone read those?)

It is an excellent rule to be observed in all disputes that men should give soft words and hard arguments; that they would not so much strive to vex, as to convince an enemy.

-John Wilkins

I found that one in Soul Made Flesh by Carl Zimmer. Great Book about Thomas Willis, who discovered the brain, along with his numerous luminary contemporaries, whose work marked the end of the dark ages and the beginning of what some would call the “Age of Reason”. It is breathtaking to see how much was learned, in a single lifetime, by the simple artifice of opening the old peepers and watching how things work, instead of making up pretty stories in the head. Recommended read.

I am a sucker for snippets so I read those things every day.

But I bet the brain was first discovered by an angry husband with a heavy rock and score to settle with his neighbor ;-)
