It always amazes me that people think that due to our past history of slavery that African Americans must automatically support gay marriage.

I don't think that way. I think that African Americans should support gay marriage for the reason everyone else should: because it is the right thing to do.

I suppose we also won’t be allowed to denounce beastiality or polygamy was they too become the latest liberal cause.

You are allowed to do whatever you want. It won't matter whether beastiality ever becomes a "liberal cause" (it won't, and it's either dumb or malicious to pretend it will) - then support it or denounce it or stay silent about it, I don't care. It won't change what is right and what is wrong now - and those who oppose gay marriage are wrong. I'll leave it up to you to figure out why they are wrong - what makes them choose the wrong side of this... Maybe it's bigotry. Maybe it's ignorance. Maybe it's political expediency. Whatever it is that causes that goes by a name -- and I'm a believer in the notion that people should wear the shoe that fits. It puzzles me that people who don't want to be called names choose to do the things that go by those names. I don't want to be called a bigot, so I don't behave like one... you know? The only reason I would act like one would be if I really believed there was no shame in it, you know?

It always amazes me that people think that due to our past history of slavery that African Americans must automatically support gay marriage. Ridiculous! I suppose we also won't be allowed to denounce beastiality or polygamy was they too become the latest liberal cause. Also, to refer to any black person that opposes gay marriage as a bigot is extremely short-sighted. In the end you will alienate the very people that are needed to support Democratic candidates.

No one likes to be called names. Do you really want to make African Americans feel unwanted in the Democratic Party? Keep in mind that the Republicans only need to peel of 35% of that vote to make Democrats a permanent minority party in this country.

In his defense, since I've long said that I'm rather fond of the young fellow, he did say "Liberals in Washington" instead of "liberals" in general, which I'd say was a different breed than, say, liberals in Florida or liberals in North Dakota (both of them). I know why he said it (pandering to a distinct set of potential voters in TN) but I also realize that if he's spent a lot of time around lobbyists from the ACLU or Barry Lynde's crowd, he's heard his fair share of opinion that "Jesus" should be uttered away from the land that is owned by the gov't.

Oh, man, are you bashing a Democrat & I come in to defend the guy? Is the earth still rotating? :)
